The Federal Government has summoned the Dangote Group and the oil workers’ union, NUPENG, to an emergency meeting
The meeting is set to take place on Monday, in a last-minute effort to avert a nationwide strike.
The strike, called by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, is backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
NUPENG accused the Dangote Group of anti-union practices and other labour violations.
The NLC has already directed its 54 affiliates and 36 state councils to prepare to join the strike, describing the standoff as a fight for the survival of the labour movement and the dignity of Nigerian workers.
The planned action has raised fears of fuel scarcity, economic paralysis, and possible social unrest if the issues are not resolved quickly.
The Labour Minister is expected to mediate talks as pressure mounts for a compromise to avert disruption.
