The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has suspended its five-day nationwide warning strike.
‎The decision followed an emergency virtual meeting where the association resolved to give the Federal Government a two-week window to fulfill agreements reached, including payment of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund to affected members.
‎‎In a statement signed by its President, Osundara Tope, and other executives, NARD said the suspension was out of consideration for citizens struggling under the current economic hardship.
‎‎However, the association warned that state chapters facing unresolved welfare issues may continue their actions until genuine commitments are made.
‎‎NARD also urged the Oyo State Government to address lingering concerns at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital or risk an indefinite solidarity strike by doctors in the state.
‎‎The doctors emphasized their readiness to work with government at all levels but insisted that members’ welfare and patients’ care must remain a priority
