The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has suspended its five-day nationwide warning strike.
The decision followed an emergency virtual meeting where the association resolved to give the Federal Government a two-week window to fulfill agreements reached, including payment of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund to affected members.
In a statement signed by its President, Osundara Tope, and other executives, NARD said the suspension was out of consideration for citizens struggling under the current economic hardship.
However, the association warned that state chapters facing unresolved welfare issues may continue their actions until genuine commitments are made.
NARD also urged the Oyo State Government to address lingering concerns at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital or risk an indefinite solidarity strike by doctors in the state.
The doctors emphasized their readiness to work with government at all levels but insisted that members’ welfare and patients’ care must remain a priority
