The Federal Government has opened talks with the management of International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) to boost investment and efficiency across Nigeria’s ports.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, met with an ICTSI delegation led by Hon. Farouk Aliyu in Abuja.
Dr. Oyetola said the government remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment that promotes innovation, transparency, and competitiveness in the maritime sector.
He added that Nigeria aims to make its ports globally competitive while unlocking the full potential of the blue economy.
Since 2021, ICTSI’s Onne Multipurpose Terminal in Rivers State has improved cargo throughput and vessel turnaround time. The terminal also made history in June 2025 when it received Kota Oasis — West Africa’s first LNG-powered container ship.
Beyond port operations, ICTSI has supported host communities through water projects, youth training, and empowerment programmes.
