The Federal Government has reaffirmed that English Language and Mathematics still remain compulsory for all students sitting for O-Level examinations.
Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, made this clear in a statement in Abuja.
According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the recent admission reforms only make the process more flexible but do not exempt candidates from registering or writing English and Mathematics.
Alausa explained that while some tertiary institutions may adjust admission requirements for certain programmes, all students must still take both subjects at O-Level.
He said the policy aims to promote inclusivity and ensure that qualified students are not denied access to higher education.
The Minister also urged parents and students to rely on official channels for accurate information and to avoid misinformation about the new policy.
