The Federal Government has appointed Professor Farouk Haruna as the first substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, in Niger State.
The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Francis Faduyile, after the Council’s fifth meeting in Kontagora.
The Pro-Chancellor described Haruna as an experienced academic leader, having previously served as Acting Vice Chancellor, Provost, and Chairman of the Committee of Provosts.
Governor Umaru Bago congratulated the new Vice Chancellor, describing him as a seasoned scholar with a proven track record of leadership and innovation.
Professor Haruna emerged successful after a rigorous selection process involving six shortlisted candidates.
He is expected to officially assume office on Monday, the 4th of November, 2025.
The Federal University of Education, Kontagora, was upgraded from a College of Education in 2021 and began admitting students in March 2025.
