The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun says 11,566 police personnel have been recalled following the presidential directive to withdraw police officers from VIP protection.
‎Egbetokun, revealed this on Thursday during the strategic officers conference,
‎The IGP said the redeployment of the affected personnel to underserved communities had since commenced.
‎He explained that the recent directive by President Bola Tinubu was a strategic and deliberate realignment of national policing priorities.
‎According to him, the policy decision was rooted not in sentiment, but in necessity, reflecting the current security demands of the country.
‎The IGP added that it reinforced the main purpose for which the Force existed; the protection of the people, the defence of communities, and the safeguarding of public order‎
‎Recall, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered additional recruitment into the Nigerian Armed Forces and the police force, amid rising attacks and abductions by gunmen and suspected terrorists.
