The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has urged residents, particularly those living in Minna metropolis, to be patient with his administration over the current water shortage in the state.
The Governor made the appeal while speaking to journalists at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna, where he addressed key issues in the state.
He explained that the water problem was due to old and damaged infrastructure inherited by his government.
According to him, many of the water pipes in the state capital were over 30 to 40 years old, most of which were broken.
Governor Bago also noted that ongoing construction projects and the rising population in Minna had added pressure on the water system.
He further assured residents that his administration was working on a total renovation of the water system to provide a permanent solution.
