The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has appointed former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to lead its Election Observation Mission to Côte d’Ivoire.
‎The ECOWAS Secretariat confirmed the appointment in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday.
‎According to the statement, the mission will be deployed from the 19th to the 29th of October, ahead of the country’s presidential election scheduled for the 25th of October.
‎As head of mission, Professor Osinbajo will lead a team of respected West Africans to engage key national stakeholders, promote peaceful conduct, and assess the credibility of the electoral process.
‎The observers are also expected to collaborate with other international and local groups to ensure transparency and fairness during the polls.
‎ECOWAS says the move reflects its ongoing commitment to peace, stability, and democratic governance across the sub-region.
