The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting all Nigerians, regardless of their religion, following comments by U.S. President Donald Trump describing Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, alleged that thousands of Christians were being killed in Nigeria, calling it a “mass slaughter” and directing U.S. lawmakers to investigate the matter.
Reacting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, said Nigeria is a God-fearing nation that values faith, tolerance, and diversity.
The statement emphasized that the Tinubu administration remains committed to fighting violent extremism and safeguarding all citizens.
The Federal Government also reaffirmed Nigeria’s strong diplomatic ties with the United States and expressed confidence that both nations will continue to work together to promote peace, stability, and democracy.
