The Federal Government has joined the global community in celebrating women as the world marks International Women’s Day 2026,
This reaffirms the it’s commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the protection of women’s rights.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa,
The Federal Government stated that the 2026 theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” served as a call for governments and institutions worldwide to dismantle persistent barriers that hindered women and girls from fully enjoying their rights.
Ebienfa stressed that women and girls made up nearly half of the nation’s population and continued to play vital roles in driving economic growth and promoting sustainable development across the country.
The Ministry’s Spokesperson, added that the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu remained committed to improving gender equality through national policies and international obligations.
