‎The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has joined the women of Akwa Ibom State at the celebration of the 2026 International Women’s Day held in Uyo, the State capital.

‎In her address at the event on Sunday, the First Lady described the theme for this year’s celebration, “Rights, Justice, Action for all Women and Girls,” as a call to action.

‎She further noted that protecting the rights of women and girls was an investment in the collective future of the nation.

‎The first lady further urged women to remain agents of change in their homes and communities, noting that when women lead with purpose, the entire nation feels the impact.

‎On his part, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio lauded the vital role of women in all spheres of life especially in the stability of the home and by extension, the society.

‎He further reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to strengthening women’s representation in governance.
