The Federal University of Technology, Minna has emerged as the leading institution in the 2024 TETFund National Research Fund (NRF) Grant cycle, securing 15 high impact research grants valued at over N400 million.
Vice Chancellor Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta revealed this on Sunday during the University’s 34th Convocation Ceremony and 43rd Founder’s Day Celebration.
He disclosed that the University was also selected as one of ten beneficiaries of the TETFund Agricultural Commercial Farm Grant, attracting a N1 billion intervention aimed at transforming food production and strengthening national food security.

Professor Faruk revealed that FUTMinna’s researchers achieved remarkable success winning international grants, securing patents, and publishing in top-tier Q1 Journals
The VC added that the University had intensified efforts to bridge the gap between innovation and the market, noting a collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and UNIDO through the Global CleanTech Innovation Programme (GCIP)
He also highlighted international collaborations and global engagements including an MoU with the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Ghana and a partnership with the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja.
The VC further emphasized the University’s commitment to merit and staff welfare, noting the promotion of 70 academic staff, 146 senior non-teaching staff and 110 junior staff.
In his final note, Professor Faruk charged the graduands to be solution providers as the world was complex but full of opportunities.
He expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education, NUC, TETFund and the Niger State Government, as well as international and strategic partners, staff and students of FUTMinna.
The VC concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the vision of the university’s pioneers, adding that the achievements of the past were not an end but a foundation for greater accomplishments ahead.
