Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has affirmed that democracy is now firmly established in Nigeria and encouraged citizens to continue active participation in the electoral process.

Speaking after casting his vote at his Tswashagi Raba polling unit in Bida during Saturday’s local government elections, Governor Bago commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring that all states conduct credible polls in line with the constitution.

The governor described the voter turnout as unprecedented, noting that the massive participation reflects citizens’ growing confidence in democratic governance.

He also wished all contestants success and advised voters to return home peacefully after voting.

Meanwhile, the APC candidate for Bida Local Government, Hon. Muhammed Usman-Manko, expressed gratitude for the large turnout despite the harsh weather, saying it shows appreciation for Governor Bago’s strides in infrastructure and human capital development.
