The Nigeria Police Force says it has successfully repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to China following a landmark operation in collaboration with INTERPOL.

‎Qisheng is a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province for orchestrating and leading violent organized crimes. He fled China in 2024 after an arrest warrant was issued and sought refuge in Nigeria.

‎Interpol operatives in Abuja tracked and apprehended Qisheng on August 8, 2025. He was repatriated to Beijing on August 15 under police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL.

‎The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the operation as a clear demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to fighting transnational crime and ensuring fugitives do not find safe haven in the country.

‎Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships and intelligence sharing to combat global crime networks.
