‎The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu has paid tribute to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing them as heroes whose sacrifices continue to inspire national service.
‎IGP Disu stated that accountability under his leadership would be fair and applied without exception,
‎He added that the leadership would stand firmly with officers who uphold professionalism and integrity
‎Members of the public were also encouraged to support the police by providing timely information and fostering mutual trust to ensure safer communities.
‎National Police Day serves as a platform to recognise the vital role of the police in safeguarding lives and property, while also reflecting on measures needed to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
‎The National Police Day 2026 was marked by the Nigeria Police Force with tributes to the courage and sacrifices of its officers, alongside renewed calls for reforms and improved welfare.
‎The annual event, celebrated every 7th of April across the country, featured parades, award presentations, and community engagement activities.
