The Nigerian Bar Association has demanded the immediate release of a young lawyer, Onyesom Peace Udoka, who was kidnapped with her sister in Kogi State.

‎Udoka, a National Youth Service Corps member, was abducted on the Lokoja–Okene highway on Saturday, just a day after she was called to the bar.

‎NBA President Afam Osigwe described the incident as shocking and unacceptable, calling it a tragic attack on the future of the legal profession.

‎He urged security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the victims and warned that Nigerians must not continue to live under constant fear on the highways.

‎The NBA also pressed the Federal Government to step up action against rising insecurity, especially kidnappings along major roads.

‎The Lokoja–Okene axis has become notorious for abductions, with gunmen attacking travellers earlier this month, leaving one dead and several others taken hostage.
