First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for urgent action to tackle the global shortage of teachers, describing the situation as a challenge that must be confronted without delay.
In a message marking World Teachers’ Day 2025, the First Lady paid tribute to educators across the country, praising them as true heroes who shaped minds, nurtured dreams, and guided generations.
Mrs Tinubu, a former teacher herself, said she held deep respect for those who dedicated their lives to the classroom, stressing that education remained the backbone of national development.
She also urged governments and stakeholders to empower teachers, invest in their training, and inspire more people to join the profession, in line with this year’s theme “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage”
The First Lady’s message came as teachers and education advocates worldwide marked the annual event highlighting the vital role of teachers in shaping the future of humanity.
