‎The Federal Government has appointed Professor Farouk Haruna as the first substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, in Niger State.
‎The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Francis Faduyile, after the Council’s fifth meeting in Kontagora.
‎The Pro-Chancellor described Haruna as an experienced academic leader, having previously served as Acting Vice Chancellor, Provost, and Chairman of the Committee of Provosts.
‎Governor Umaru Bago congratulated the new Vice Chancellor, describing him as a seasoned scholar with a proven track record of leadership and innovation.
‎Professor Haruna emerged successful after a rigorous selection process involving six shortlisted candidates.
‎He is expected to officially assume office on Monday, the 4th of November, 2025.
‎The Federal University of Education, Kontagora, was upgraded from a College of Education in 2021 and began admitting students in March 2025.
