‎The Senate has confirmed the appointment of the 64 remaining ambassadorial nominees.
‎
‎Their confirmations came on Thursday following the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign affairs, which conducted the screening exercise.
‎
‎Thirty-four (34) of them are career ambassadors while the remaining 30 are non-career ambassadors.
‎
‎Those confirmed during Plenary include former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu; ex-minister, Femi Fani-Kayode and ex-presidential aide, Reno Omokri.
‎
‎Some others in the list include a former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; and former deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro.
‎
‎Apart from these, other career ambassadors and high commissioner-designates were also confirmed by the Senate.
‎
‎A breakdown of the list showed that there are four women on the career ambassadors’ list and six on the non-career ambassadors’ list.
‎
‎The Senate had last week confirmed three other non-career ambassadors, bringing the total number of confirmed nominees to 67.
