‎President Bola Tinubu has taken part in a virtual summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) convened to address the unfolding political crisis in Guinea-Bissau.
‎President Tinubu joined other West African leaders via Zoom on Thursday and engaged in high-level deliberations aimed at preserving stability and upholding constitutional order in the country.
‎In a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal government expressed deep concern over the recent military coup in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau‎
‎It described the coup as an unconstitutional change of government that threatened democratic progress and regional stability.
‎The statement further condemned the military action as a clear violation of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, which strictly prohibited any attempt to assume power through unconstitutional means.
