In a statement issued on Thursday, he described the attack as a despicable assault on innocent citizens and on the peace of the nation.
The Vice President, who is in the State for the Christmas break, said President Bola Tinubu had ordered an immediate intensification of security operations in the state following the incident.
VP Shettima assured that the Federal Government was deploying additional tactical teams to the area to track down and apprehend those responsible for the terror attack.
He further expressed confidence that the security architecture currently in place would not only apprehend the perpetrators but also unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The unfortunate incident occurred at dusk on Wednesday, the same day the Vice President arrived in Borno, his home state.
