President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with religious leaders to advance interfaith dialogue and foster harmony among the nation’s diverse religious communities.
He gave the assurance while receiving in audience the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See, Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This was revealed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga,
The President described interfaith dialogue as the most effective way to address security challenges, stressing that engagement among religious leaders was essential to fostering peace and national cohesion.
He recalled his sustained cordial relationship with the Catholic Church, particularly during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, and reaffirmed his administration’s support for the Church’s significant contributions to education and healthcare across the country.
President Tinubu further assured the Archbishop that the government was making strategic investments in youths to shield them from recruitment by terrorist groups, and address the conditions that fueled violent extremism
On his part, Archbishop Gallagher commended President Tinubu’s efforts in promoting peace, particularly through military initiatives, and encouraged continued dedication.
