The Presidency has addressed public speculation and criticism surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s extended stay abroad, firmly reassuring the public that the President remains in full health and actively in charge of state affairs. Responding to concerns regarding his prolonged vacation beyond the initial three-week schedule, Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga clarified that modern governance allows the Head of State to discharge his constitutional duties from anywhere in the world. The Presidency highlighted that during his time in Europe, President Tinubu has been engaging with major international investors, notably facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port development project in Ogun Waterside. Officials also announced that the President is scheduled to return to Nigeria ahead of October 1st to mark Independence Day in Lagos and deliver the traditional nationwide broadcast.
