Street dealers in the Aboki market opened the week quoting the US dollar at about ₦1,355 to ₦1,365 when buying cash and ₦1,370 to ₦1,375 when selling on Monday, 5 October 2026 across Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt. The official CBN window stayed near ₦1,330 to ₦1,332, leaving a street premium of just over 3%.

The stability comes as Nigeria’s composite Purchasing Managers’ Index rose from 52.7 in August to 53.0 in September, keeping overall economic activity in expansion territory for a fourth consecutive month. According to Vanguard and Nairametrics, the expansion was supported by output, new orders and employment, though input-price pressure remains.

Analysts say the tight gap between official and parallel rates is encouraging, but many small businesses still rely on the black market for urgent travel, school fees and import payments. External reserves near $54.93 billion are helping liquidity.
