The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published its final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general elections. The list includes President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
According to NaijaNews, the final list also includes 14 others for Lagos governorship like Hamzat, Rhodes-Vivour and Doherty, with parties fielding over 1,000 candidates for Houses of Assembly. Two women made the presidential final list, a first in recent history.
Controversies have emerged — Pantami, Adebutu and others have petitioned INEC over omission, while PDP and NDC fault the commission for alleged discrepancies. INEC says its portal remains open for corrections until October 14 when Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the APC Campaign Council.
